Bea Nettles’s Mountain Dream Tarot is a complete deck of seventy-eight tarot cards. The imagery throughout this deck ranges from surrealistic and highly edited compositions, such as the violent and explosive Tower arcana card where two men are falling out of an exploding building, to calm ones such as the King and X stars cards.

Nettles used this project to explore different avenues of her life and surroundings. These avenues include photography, friends, family, nature, and community. The decision to use a tarot deck is interesting because of its relation to time. She compiled parts of her life over a period of five years to create this deck, which is meant to be used as an instrument to predict the future. In a way, the presence of these paradoxes between content and vehicle highlights how intrinsically connected the past, present, and future are.
